Cocaine, Alcohol Binge Ends in Fatal Shooting
A 25-year-old Aurora man was fatally shot in what police say may have been an accidental incident.

A 24-year-old Aurora man has been charged with unlawful possession of a controlled substance after an apparent drinking and cocaine binge ended in the shooting death of the man’s 25-year-old friend, according to a release from the Aurora Police Department.
The charge against Adolfo Ramirez, of the 1300 block of Monomoy Street, was secured late Sunday by Aurora police through the Kane County State’s Attorney. Ramirez has since posted 10 percent of his $3,000 bail that was set at a morning bail call Monday and has been released. The investigation is continuing and further charges are possible.

Ramirez and the deceased man, Angel G. Reyna of the 400 block of North View Street, were allegedly drinking and ingesting cocaine from the late night hours of Sept. 18 into the early morning hours of Sept. 19 inside Ramirez’s apartment. At about 7:12 a.m. Sept. 19, police responded to the apartment for a shooting victim and found Reyna suffering from a single gunshot wound to the chest. Reyna was taken to an Aurora hospital by Aurora Fire Department Paramedics and pronounced dead at 7:56 a.m.
The circumstances surrounding the shooting, which may be accidental, are still being investigated by police. Ramirez and Reyna were apparently the only two people inside the kitchen where the shooting occurred. A 19-year-old man was the only other person in the apartment at the time and he was in an upstairs bedroom sleeping at the time of the incident.
