Convicted Sex Offender Didn't Register New Address: Police

The 34-year-old man was originally convicted on a charge of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. His victim was 5 years old.

A convicted sex offender who failed to register a new address has found himself behind bars for the offense.

According to a release from the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, Felipe Perez, 34, of the 1100 block of Route 30 in unincorporated Aurora, failed to notify the sheriff’s office of an address change within three days, as is required by Illinois law.

Police became aware of the crime after deputies completed an address verification check on Perez Oct. 30. On Jan. 8, the Kendall County State’s Attorney’s Office charged Perez with one count of unlawful failure to register as a sex offender, a class 2 felony.

Perez’s bail was set at $25,000, with ten percent to apply. Perez was taken into custody on Jan. 12 by the Aurora Police Department and transferred to the Kendall County Jail.

Perez was unable to post bond and attended a bond hearing where his bail was raised to $50,000 with ten percent to apply based on a previous conviction for failing to register as a sex offender.

Perez remains in custody in the Kendall County Jail. He was originally charged with aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim younger than 13. At the time of the offense, Perez was 24 and his victim was 5 years old.
