Dad, Grandpa Always There When You Need Him

YORKVILLE, IL — For Father's Day, Patch is letting readers honor their dads with photos and tributes. The following message is to Gary Scholes of Yorkville from his daughter, Jodi Merkel.

My dad is a great person. He would help anyone who needed help. He has always spent time playing ball or catch or went to all our games when we younger and now he does the same thing with the grandkids. We all especially like going fishing with him, and no matter when we need him, he always comes to the rescue. All the grandkids love playing games or cards with them, and he always used to let them win. Although now that they are older they can win on their own. Happy Father's day, dad.
