A DeKalb man was killed and his wife critically injured in a two-car crash that shut down an Aurora roadway for more than five hours late Friday afternoon.
Eddie D. Bermea, 34, died when a car crossed over the median and struck Bermea’s vehicle in the northbound lane of Eola Road near Prospect Drive around 5:50 p.m., Aurora police said in a news release.

The force of the crash trapped both Bermea and his wife. The Pathfinder also ended up on its side but police said that Farooqi was able to crawl out of the vehicle.
Farqooi, who suffered non-life threatening injuries, and Joyce Bermea were taken to separate Aurora hospitals, police said.
The roadway was closed for five-and-a-half hours as Aurora Police traffic investigators reconstructed the crash.
Farqooi, who was the sole occupant in the Nissan, was cited for improper lane usage.
Police said their preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol does not appear to be a factor.
