Deputy Executive Director Appointed At Oswegoland Park District
The appointee will oversee the essential duties typically handled by Tom Betsinger, who was charged with attempted reckless homicide.
YORKVILLE, IL — The Oswegoland Park District Board voted to appoint a deputy executive director to oversee the organization while Executive Director Tom Betsinger "is unavailable," as described by the meeting minutes.
Betsinger was placed on paid administrative leave after he was charged with aggravated battery, attempted reckless homicide and driving under the influence, Patch reported. Yorkville police allege he made several "intentional" attempts to hit a pedestrian with a pickup truck in the parking lot of BrightFarms Greenhouse on Corneils Road on Sunday.

The pedestrian told police he didn't know Betsinger and had never met him before. The man was eventually able to duck inside the store, and Betsinger went on to hit two parked cars before fleeing, police said. Officers found the vehicle in a ditch about one mile from the business, where Betsinger appeared to have lost control of it.
Chad Feldotto, the director of parks and planning, was assigned the essential duties of executive director. Board members Bob Ijams, Sandy Tartol and Dannielle Wilson voted in favor Thursday night.

Earlier in the meeting, commissioners ratified the move by President Dave Behrens to place Betsinger on administrative leave.
Corporate counsel Ancel Glink is independently investigating the accusations on behalf of the park district, according to a report from Shaw Local. The incident is also under investigation by the Yorkville Police Department.
"We're going to do a thorough investigation on behalf of the Park District," attorney Mark Heinle said, per Shaw Local. "Ancel Glink, the corporate counsel, will be handling the investigation so it will be an independent investigation. It will be thorough. We don’t know how long it will take. It will take as long as the facts require it to take."
