Driver in Fatal Oswego Crash Identified

Police said the 29-year-old Plano man drifted into the northbound lane and was broadsided by an SUV.

OSWEGO, IL — The name of the 29-year-old man who was killed in a traffic crash Sunday has been released.

Sean Maurer, of Plano, was pronounced dead at the scene of the fatal broadside collision that occurred on Minkler Road at around 1:52 p.m. Dec. 14, according to a release from the Oswego Police Department.

Maurer was traveling southbound on Minkler Road when he seemingly lost control of his Nissan Sedan near the Morgan Creek bridge, according to police. He drifted into the northbound lane and was broadsided by a northbound Honda SUV.

A motorist traveling in the area contacted police about the crash.

The driver of the SUV, a 65-year-old Yorkville woman, was taken to a local hospital for non-life threatening injuries.

Minkler Road between Country Lane and Hunt Club Drive was closed for around six hours Sunday.

No charges have been filed in the crash. The investigation is ongoing.
