Elderly Yorkville Man Duped Out of Nearly $1K: Police

Police have no suspects at this time.

YORKVILLE, IL — An 86-year-old Yorkville man was duped out of nearly $1,000 after getting a phone call from a person pretending to be his grandson.

The Kendall County Sheriff's Office said on Sept. 30 the man received a phone call from his “grandson” saying that he was in jail in New Jersey and needed money to get out. The grandfather transferred $975, but later discovered that his grandson was not in New Jersey.

Police have no suspects at this time.
