Enrollment now open for Summer Social Skills Groups (Children 4-9)
Steps for Kids, a Yorkville-based pediatric clinic, is now enrolling for summer Social Skills Groups to build confidence and social skills.
Enrollment is now open for our summer Social Skills Groups
Our Social Skills Groups help your child build confidence and skills for social interactions with the help of Amy McDowell, a licensed speech-language pathologist. Through play and instruction in a safe environment, Amy guides these small groups through skill-building activities that provide positive change over the course of four-week sessions.

Social Skills Group: Young Children (4 to 6 years)
Mondays & Wednesdays at 9a.m. | $160
June 5 – June 28 OR July 10 – August 2
Designed especially for younger children, this four-week program meets Mondays and Wednesdays at 9a.m. for a total of eight one-hour sessions. Children are guided through structured play and learning activities targeted to their needs that support enhanced social engagement across all settings.
Social Skills Group: Older Children (7 to 9 years)
Tuesdays at 5p.m. | $120 | July 11 – August 15
Designed especially for older children, this six-week program meets Tuesdays at 5p.m. for a total of six one-hour sessions. Structured play and learning activities facilitate interaction, verbal expression, understanding others, and self-regulation for older children across social situations.

About Amy McDowell, MS, CCC-SLP/L
Amy has experience in clinic, home and school settings, providing both individual and group therapy to children from infants to adolescents. Amy uses play based therapy to facilitate speech and language skills development. She recognizes the individual differences of each child and tailors her approach to best meet each child’s needs within the group setting.

All children who attend a Social Skills Group must be able to participate in group activities without one-on-one assistance. Don’t see a session that works for you, or interested in something slightly different? Contact us to discuss your options!
Please note: Social Skills groups are not billable to insurance. Payment is due in full prior to the first session. No refunds on individual missed sessions or after the date of first session. STEPS for Kids reserves the right to reschedule sessions missed due to therapists’ absence or other extenuating circumstances.
