Volunteers from the United States Coast Guard Auxiliary will be presenting "About Boating Safely" on Saturday, March 24. This introductory boating class offers insight for operating a boat or jet ski, understanding state laws and how to respond to unusual situations or emergencies. The course begins at 8:30 am and concludes by 5 pm. There are colorful powerpoint slides and interesting stories from the expert boating instructors. Those who successfully complete the course exam qualify for a NASBLA-approved completion certificate. This is required by law in Illinois for teenagers to operate a vessel independently. Students need to bring a lunch. The fee is $40 and covers all materials. Enrollment opens on February 17. Limited class size.
