Ex-Yorkville PD Staffer Charged With Child Porn Possession: Cops
The department didn't know of the 20-year-old's online activity until receiving a tip, officials said.

YORKVILLE, IL ā A 20-year-old former Yorkville Police Department employee was arrested Friday on an outstanding warrant for possession and distribution of child pornography, police said.
Radu A. Mogos, of the 2600 block of McLellan Boulevard, was taken into custody without incident and was charged with one count of distribution of child pornography, one count of reproduction of child pornography and 10 counts of possession of child pornography.
Mogos was hired on Sept. 19 and removed from the job a little more than a month later, on Oct. 24, Deputy Chief Garrett Carlyle told Patch. According to his LinkedIn profile, Mogos worked as a community engagement officer.

While employed, officials said in a news release that Mogos was under "the constant supervision" of a field training officer. He was removed from service and resigned from his position after the department received a tip on Oct. 24 from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children.
Yorkville police executed a search warrant based on information from the tip and confirmed the 20-year-old was in possession of illegal materials before turning over the case to the Kendall County State's Attorney's Office for approval of the charges, according to a news release.

"It is important to the Yorkville Police Department to be transparent in our duties and actions," officials said. "While Mr. Mogos was employed for a short time with the Yorkville Police Department, we had no knowledge of his personal off-duty online activities until reported to us by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children."
The statement continued: "The men and women of the Yorkville Police Department hold ourselves to a higher standard of performance and expectations. We must hold ourselves accountable when an [individual's] actions are illegal and affect the integrity of our organization. Yorkville Police Department cannot and will not condone inappropriate or unlawful action by its employees."
Mogos is set to appear in court Saturday. He remains in custody at the Kane County jail.
