Hispanic Man Tried to Abduct Woman: Police

Police were unable to locate the alleged abductor and anyone with information is asked to contact the Aurora Police Department.

A 35-year-old woman is claiming she was the victim of an attempted abduction Tuesday, according to a release from the Aurora Police Department.

The woman told policce she was walking northbound in the area of the former Hobby Lobby in the 1900 block of West Galena Boulevard at around 3:40 p.m. when she noticed she was being followed by a man driving a silver car. The driver, described as a male Hispanic, 5 feet 10 inches to 5 feet 11 inches tall, with black hair, sporting a goatee and mustache, and wearing a medium-gray colored shirt, began to whistle and call out to her. She said the suspect disappeared when she pulled out her cell phone to summon help.

When she reached the area of Greenwood Drive and Best Place at around 3:50 p.m., she again saw the suspect vehicle. The man got out of the vehicle, walked up to her from behind, grabbed her and tried to pull her toward his vehicle. She then pushed the man away and ran to her home. She did not see in which direction the suspect fled. The victim was unable to give a more detailed description of either the man or his vehicle.

Police are asking anyone who many have witnessed the incident or any suspicious activity in the area Tuesday afternoon, to call Aurora Police Investigations at 630-256-5500 or Aurora Area Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000. Callers to Crime Stoppers are anonymous and qualify for a cash reward of up to $5,000 for information that leads to any arrests.
