Kendall County Memorial Day Events Planned

Parades, ceremonies set for Monday morning.

OSWEGO

The Oswego American Legion Post 675 will hold its annual Memorial Day parade Monday. Step off will be at 10 a.m. from the old Traughber Junior High at 61 Franklin St.

The parade will head down Jackson Street, turn right onto Monroe Street, left onto Jefferson Street, and left onto Main Street, ending at the Main Street Oswego Township Cemetery.

A ceremony at the cemetery, including performances by Oswego and Oswego East high school bands, will follow. Oswego police, firefighters and Scout troops will take part.

A luncheon will follow the ceremony at 11:30 a.m. at the American Legion, 19 W. Washington St.

YORKVILLE

At 8 a.m., the VFW will have a ceremony in front of the post, then they will go to Cross Lutheran Cemetery at 8:30 a.m., Emmanuel Lutheran Cemetery at 9 a.m., the Pavillion Cemetery at 9:30 a.m., the Bristol Cemetery at 10 a.m., and the Elmwood Cemetery at 10:30 a.m.

By 11:30 a.m., the VFW will arrive at the Yorkville Town Square for a service.

Between 11:30 a.m. and noon, the town ceremony will start in Yorkville City Park, on Route 47 and Main Street.

There will be speeches from community and veterans group leaders.

The Legion Riders also will be there with a forest of American flags.
