Kendall Youth Employment Program
"The purpose is to help youth overcome their employment disadvantages, gain experience, and make some money," said Mark Leigh, Coordinator.

Youth who are 16 to 24 years are invited to apply for a free program that will provide training and employment.
“Youth will make short-term and long-term plans, “ said Mark Leigh, coordinator of the program. “They will make resumes, improve their interview skills, and receive a lot of help getting a job.”
If youth in the program are not able to find a job, they can be placed in subsidized employment in which wages are paid by the youth employment program while they are trained at a local business.

The program also helps high school dropouts prepare for the GED with one-on-one tutoring and online lessons. The tutoring is especially useful to pass the new version of the GED test which is aligned with Common Core Standards.
To be eligible for the program, youth must live in Kendall, DeKalb, or Kane County. Dropouts, parenting youth, and youth on probation are eligible regardless of income, but others may have to meet low income guidelines. The application process involves completing forms, interviewing, and testing.
