Man Charged With 11 Counts Of Child Porn, Failing To Register

Police said they believe the 27-year-old was communicating with an out of state minor.

NEWARK, IL — A Kendall County man faces 11 counts of possession of child pornography as well as a warrant for failure to register as a sex offender. Sheriff's police arrested Benjamin H. Murphy, 27, Thursday at his home in the 0-100 block of Coy Park Drive, Newark, after a yearlong investigation that began with investigators receiving information that Murphy was communicating with an out of state minor.

On Wednesday, police obtained a warrant for Murphy's arrest for failing to register as a sex offender. A day later, sheriff's detectives and members of the Illinois Attorney General’s Office and Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force executed a search warrant at Murphy's home and located evidence in the case.

Murphy was in custody at the Kendall County Sheriff's Office as of Thursday, police said.
