Master Gardener Plant Sale & Free Demonstrations
The Kendall County Master Gardener Plant Sale is 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Sat., May 16 in Yorkville. The event includes four free presentations.
YORKVILLE, Ill. – Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 16, to pick up some helpful hints for your garden and to pick out prime plants. The event features a wide variety of perennials and vegetables for purchase, as well as free presentations and demonstrations on popular home gardening topics.
The annual Kendall County Master Gardener Plant Sale is scheduled for 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 16. The trained volunteers will present on the following topics:
- At 9:45 a.m., Laura Spang of Batavia will provide tips on successful winter sowing and discuss winter hardy seed choices.
- Then, Kandy Keeling of Oswego will share secrets of creating stunning container gardens at 10:30 a.m.
- Starting at 11:15 a.m., Linda Kopacz of Oswego will tackle inventive and inspiring upcycling projects for your garden.
- Body Smart Gardening, led by Gloria Meyer and Peter Krol of Sandwich, will reveal techniques for preventing aches and strains. This final presentation is set to start at noon.
The annual sale includes vegetable, herb, native and perennial plants. The event will be at the University of Illinois Extension office, 7775B Illinois Route 47 in Yorkville, just one mile south of Route 71. In case of rain, the sale will be held Sunday, May 17.

Kendall County Master Gardeners answer homeowner gardening and lawn care questions through the Help Desk, which is open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Extension office or by calling 630-553-5823.
