4-H Offers New Nature Photography Club for Teens
YORKVILLE, Ill. – Teens can learn about photography in a natural setting with an experienced volunteer this spring through the new Nature Photography 4-H SPIN Club. This opportunity is presented by Kendall County 4-H, in partnership with the Kendall County Forest Preserve with support from Back to Nature Alliance.
Led by professional photographer, Master Naturalist and 4-H volunteer, Shannon Range, this three-session program will explore the basics of photography in natural settings. Youth will learn about focus, composition, point-of-view, lighting, color and more. It is open to youth ages 13 to 18.

“This special interest (SPIN) club allows members to grow photography skills with fun, hands-on experience in nature,” said Jo Ann Britton, a 4-H Program Coordinator with University of Illinois Extension in Kendall County. “It is led by an experienced photographer and volunteer, and we appreciate the partnership with the Kendall County Forest Preserve and the support of Back to Nature Alliance. They all helped make this fantastic learning opportunity possible.”
Participants may use any digital camera, including cell phones, tablets, and point-and-shoot cameras for the club; however, 35mm digital cameras will yield the best results.
