New Hastert Mug Shot Released

The 75-year-old former House Speaker will serve two years of supervised release and undergo sex abuser treatment.

LAKE COUNTY, IL — The Lake County Sheriff's Office on Wednesday released a mug shot of a barely recognizable Dennis Hastert, two days after he left a federal prison in Minnesota. The 75-year-old former House Speaker was sentenced to 15 months for violating federal banking regulations while paying out "hush money" to keep sex abuse allegations under wraps. His sentence doesn't officially end until Aug. 16 but he was eligible to serve out the remainder of his time in a halfway house or on home confinement.

After admitting to sexually abusing students during his years as a teacher and coach at Yorkville High School, Hastert must undergo intensive sex-offender treatment. He must also serve two years of supervised release, with regular check-ins with a probation officer, drug screenings and restricted travel.

A spokesman for for the Lake County Sheriff's Office said Hastert is currently on electronic monitoring, suggesting that he is serving the last few weeks of his sentence on home confinement, according to the Beacon-News. His booking photograph was taken at Lake County Jail in Waukegan this week.
