Oswego Police Investigating IRS Scam

Oswego man was scammed out of over $4,500.

The Oswego Police Department is investigating a phone scam by a person claiming to be from the IRS.

According to a release from the Oswego Police Department, an Oswego man received a phone call June 4 from a person claiming to be an IRS agent and convinced the man there was a warrant for his arrest and a lawsuit against him and his bank account. In order to settle these charges, the man had to deposit money into an account.

According to the release, the man deposited $4,986.73. After he deposited the money, he learned he was the victim of a scam.
