Pizza Delivery Driver From Yorkville Robbed At Gunpoint: Cops
The victim called his boss at the Montgomery pizza chain before alerting police, Aurora officials said.

AURORA, IL — A delivery driver working for a Montgomery pizza franchise was robbed at gunpoint over the weekend, Aurora police said. The victim, a 28-year-old Yorkville man, had just made a delivery to a home in the 900 block of North Avenue at around 10:20 p.m. Sunday when the suspect got out of a white sedan — possibly a 2009 Chevy Malibu — and approached him.
Police said the suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim's money. The delivery driver handed over an undisclosed amount of cash and the gunman walked back towards the car he'd arrived in, according to police.
Officials described the suspect as a black man around 30 years old, about 5-foot-10 and 185 pounds with short, black hair, brown eyes, and a short, trimmed beard. Police said he was wearing a light gray hooded sweatshirt and dark gray sweatpants.

The delivery driver wasn't hurt. Police noted that instead of calling 911, the victim first called his boss at a pizza franchise in Montgomery — something that's not unusual for crime victims, according to cops.
Police said the victim's boss called the Montgomery Police Department to report the robbery, and the driver then drove back to the pizza store to meet with police, further delaying the response.

"It is not all that unusual for these types of robberies to be reported in this manner," Aurora police said. "While we understand the shock and trauma experienced by victims, it is imperative that delivery drivers of any type (and their bosses and ALL crime victims) realize the importance of calling 911. When we’re not alerted immediately, we lose precious time in identifying, arresting, and holding the criminal accountable. So please. Anytime you are victimized by a crime (delivery driver or not), call 911 before anyone else."
Anyone who saw something or might have information on the robbery is asked to call Aurora Police Investigations at 630-256-5500 or Crime Stoppers at 630-892-1000.
