Several Citations Given During Work Zone Enforcement

A total of 39 citations and 73 warnings were given.

A roadway construction zone enforcement by the Oswego and Yorkville Police Departments, along with the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office, resulted in several citations and warnings issued.

The enforcement focused on work zone violations, including speeding, the use of electronics and cell phone usage. Police wrote a total of 39 citations and 73 warnings:

  • Speeding: 18 citations and 55 warnings
  • Cell phone use: 3 citations and 7 warnings
  • Safety belt: 6 citations and 3 warnings
  • Uninsured motorist: 5 citations and 1 warning
  • Lane usage: 2 citations and 2 warnings
  • Equipment violations: 2 citations and 1 warning
  • Expired registration: 2 citations and 1 warning
  • Driving while license suspended/revoked: 1 citation
  • Failure to use signal: 1 warning
  • Loud exhaust: 1 warning
  • Other: 1 warning

On average, there are more than 4,000 work zone vehicle crashes a year in Illinois. Police would like to remind motorists to slow down and stay off your phone when traveling through roadway construction and maintenance work zone.
