Sheriff's K9 Receives Body Armor
If anybody is terrible enough to try to shoot or stab Miko, his new body armor will help protect him.

YORKVILLE, IL — Thanks to a donation from the non-profit Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., Miko of the Kendall County Sheriff's Office will be a bit safer. The body armor donated to the sheriff's office will help protect Miko from bullet and knife wounds.
Vested Interest in K9s, Inc., based out of East Taunton, MA and founded in 2009, makes it its business to provide all sorts of assistance to cops and their canine counterparts.
Since they began, Vested Interest has provided over 2,600 protective vests to K9s throughout 50 states, helping ensure every one of them is safe and can keep being very good dogs.

Miko's vest was sponsored by the Lincolnwood Training Club for German Shepherd Dogs of IL. Embroidered on the vest is a permanent thanks to the training club.
K9s who are actively serving and are at least 20 months old are eligible. New graduates, as well as dogs with expired vests, are also eligible, according to the Kendall County Sheriff's Office Facebook page.

Kendall County Deputy Jason Larsen has been working with Miko since they attended a rigorous 10-week training course in October of 2016, and they're certified for police service and narcotics detection.
