Sheriff's Office Gives 27 Warnings, 17 Citations During Speed Awareness Day

In 2014, speed was the reason for 32.4 percent of all traffic fatalities in Illinois.

The Kendall County Sheriff’s Office gave more than 15 citations and 25 warnings during the statewide Speed Awareness Day campaign last month.

Deputies made a total of 44 traffic stops resulting in 27 warnings and 17 citations, according to a news release from the sheriff’s office.

In Illinois during 2014, speed was the reason for 32.4 percent of all traffic fatalities, the sheriff’s office said.

The sheriff’s office joined other agencies statewide in taking a proactive approach to promote safety for motorists, pedestrians and cyclists through both education and enforcement.
