STEM on Agenda at CUSD 115 Board Meeting Tonight
Meeting will be held in the library of Yorkville High School.

District 115 officials will examine possible adoption of STEM curricular programing and will discussing the impact of current summer programs during a committee of the whole meeting tonight.
Administrators from Yorkville High School will introduce STEM programs through Project Lead the Way. STEM, which stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics, is a rigorous program aimed at teaching the necessary skills in a 21st Century global economy. Administrators will provide the board with short and long term proposal to the board.
Board members will hear reports on the effectiveness of summer programs, including an overview of summer school programs, which saw an enrollment increase of 31 percent, according to district documents. Officials will also receive an update on the district's gifted summer programs and the Jump Start program.

Board members will also discuss three new proposed courses at Yorkville High School, including Advanced Placement Literature and Composition, Honors Computer Programming and Introduction to Guitar.
