Sugar Shack Bakery Opens in Downtown Yorkville

The bakery features muffins, coffee and free Internet access on its first full day open at 101 W. Van Emmon St.

The monkey bread went quickly.

Within 90 minutes of Sugar Shack Bakery opening in downtown Yorkville, owner Stephanie Baumwell was explaining that she'd have to start making more of the breakfast treat. (Think of a cross between a cinnamon roll and coffee cake.)

The bakery, which also accepts orders, is featuring blueberry muffins, cream cheese and cherry muffins, and cream cheese and pecan muffins.

Baumwell had originally planned to open Wednesday but renovating and interior painting took longer than expected.
