Five Reasons to take your Love for Yoga to the Next Level!
Have you fallen in love with your yoga practice but not sure how to take it up a notch? If you just can’t get enough asana or the thought of missing a yoga practice takes your pranayama away, you just might want to consider Yoga Teacher Training!
Yorkville-based yoga studio Sense of Samadhi's Yoga Teacher Training (YTT) might be the perfect next step for you and your practice. Don’t let the name intimidate you, ANYONE who practices Yoga will benefit from getting certified. True, many students decide to pursue YTT with the goal of becoming teachers, but just as many pursue it simply to deepen their practice and understanding of the yogic philosophy.
Here are five great reasons to do it even if you never teach a class in your life!:
1. Deepen your knowledge of the Yogic Philosophy. In this 200 Hour Yoga Alliance Certified program, you will learn the history of Yoga and how it has evolved since becoming popular in western culture. Tairi Kearns, the studio’s owner and Registered Yoga Teacher, has been practicing yoga for over ten years and was trained primarily in Baptiste vinyasa flow. Because Kearns is also a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, she is uniquely qualified to incorporate exploration of self and unity of mind, body and spirit and how to incorporate the ancient practice off the mat and in your everyday lives.
2. Learn a great deal more about your body and how it moves. The program's curriculum is set up as one full weekend per month for eight months starting in March and ending with graduation in October. Each weekend covers a different topic in-depth. One of those topics is Anatomy. You will learn proper movement and alignment of your body as you practice as well as assist in correcting misalignments to avoid injuries.
3. Build a tight community of other yogis. You will spend an entire weekend every month immersed in yoga alongside 12 other yoga-loving students. As you learn and grow together, provide hands-on assists, open up and share your lives and have fun and laugh together, deep friendships are bound to be forged!
4. Learn additional styles of yoga. In addition to the Baptiste vinyasa flow Kearns has been trained in, additional styles of yoga will be incorporated including Hatha, Yin, and Kundalini.
5. Turn your love into a satisfying career. Or even just a part-time gig. Last year, Kearns certified 13 students and 6 of them have stayed on to teach in her studio. Yoga studios are always looking to add qualified, energetic, people-loving yogis to their staff of instructors. Maybe you should be one of them?!
