Teens Hospitalized, Yorkville HS Evacuated For 'Foggy Haze'
Students were briefly evacuated after a haze was noticed on the first floor of the building.

YORKVILLE, IL — Four students were taken to area hospitals for evaluation and the campus was evacuated due to a "foggy haze" at Yorkville High School on Wednesday. School officials said the haze was spotted in two first-story classrooms Wednesday afternoon, prompting the campus to evacuate for about 20 minutes.
The district said the haze was caused by a "small Freon gas leak" from a coil in a rooftop air conditioning unit that was undergoing maintenance.
"Students and staff who were in the affected rooms were evaluated by Emergency Medical Services and parents were contacted," the district said in an alert posted online. "We are extremely proud of our YHS students and staff who safely followed district evacuation procedures, and our local emergency management personnel for their quick response.
