Tickets now on sale for Yorkville High School 22nd Annual Madrigal Dinner
The Yorkville High School’s Madrigals will present three dinner theater performances of “How the Wench Stole Christmas” this December. Join the king, queen, court jester and wench for a holiday feast while being serenaded by twenty-two lords and ladies singing traditional holiday madrigals. The 22nd Annual Madrigal Dinner offers a hearty meal, drama, comedy (often of the bawdy, innuendo type) a steady stream of Renaissance music and wassail. What is “wassail”, you ask? Wassail is a hot cider drink seasoned with spices and honey. It was served from huge bowls, often made of silver or pewter, and passed around with the greeting, “Wassail.” Traditional madrigals are songs written for small groups in which their voices skillfully combine independently in a melodic and rhythmic way. The Madrigal lords and ladies will perform these traditional madrigals and holiday favorites while dressed in full costume during the themed feast of old. The evening will also feature YHS Madrigal Strings and Brass ensembles. Performances will take place at Yorkville High School on Friday, December 4th at 6 pm, Saturday, December 5th at 6 pm and Sunday, December 6th at 4 pm. All Tickets are $20 with Reserved Seating and are Available now through www.showtix4u.com or by phone at 1-866-967-8167. (Tickets may be available at the door, but not guaranteed!)
