Tips To Protect Vehicles, Property From Theft: Yorkville Police
The Yorkville Police Department offers tips to help protect your vehicles and property from theft.

YORKVILLE, IL — Yorkville Police Department Chief Rich Hart and the rest of the department want to give the following tips to citizens and visitors to protect their vehicles and other property after recent incidents including theft.
Police advise:
- Always lock your vehicle and home
- Never leave your vehicle or home keys inside your vehicle
- Never leave valuables in your vehicle
- Be sure to close your garage door
- Leave your home's outdoor lights on overnight
According to a Yorkville police report, a silver Chevy Equinox was recently stolen from a home at 923 Western Lane. According to police, the theft incident was reported on Sept. 30, hours after the homeowner's vehicle was taken from where it was parked in the driveway.
