Valuing our Heritage in Today's Yard and Garden @ The Yorkville Public Library

Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 pm

The Yorkville Public Library has invited speakers, Brook McDonald, President/CEO, of The Conservation Foundation and John Church, Kendall County Program Director, of The Conservation Foundation to present “Valuing our Heritage in Today’s Yard and Garden” program on Tuesday, April 28 at 7:00 pm.

Over the last century and beyond, Illinois’ vast prairies and networks of streams and rivers have provided generations of local families with high quality sources of water and productive soils. As eras have evolved, much of that landscape has transitioned to more urban, which can present new issues in home landscapes. But, we can still learn from our heritage to protect and improve our landscape.

In observance of the library’s 100th anniversary celebration, this program will highlight how our current landscapes were formed historically and how the changes can impact today’s practices around the home yard and garden. Conservation-based gardening in today’s landscape can help restore some of the historical function and beauty to your yard and garden.
