Video Visitation At Kendall County Jail Starts Aug. 21

Families will be able to visit with incarcerated loved ones without leaving home.

YORKVILLE, IL — Sheriff Dwight Baird on Tuesday announced that video visitation will be available for inmates at the Kendall County Jail starting Aug. 21. "With video visitation, families can visit inmates from the comforts of their own homes via web-based video or through an App on mobile devices," the sheriff's office said in a statement. "No longer do they have to drive to the jail to visit their loved ones."

For on-site video visits, each inmate will be allowed two 20-minute visits per week using a video visitation station at the sheriff's office, 1102 Cornell Lane in Yorkville. On-site video visits are free to both inmates and visitors.

At-home video visits will cost users $5.95 for a 20-minute visit and $9.95 for a 40-minute visit. The at-home service can be used seven days a week. Those who don't have a computer can visit with inmates from a computer at a public library or head to the sheriff's office to use a video visitation station.

“With this new technology, inmates will be able to maintain closer ties to their families no
matter where they live,” Baird said.

visitation. Family and friends can visit inmates from anywhere there’s internet service," according to a sheriff's office news release. "Through web-based visitation, inmates can assist their children with their homework and be a part of birthday celebrations."

Scheduling will be available online for at-home video visitors and through scheduling kiosks at the sheriff's office Appointments must be made at least 24 hours in advance but no earlier than two weeks in advance.
