Volunteers Sought for Tornado Relief Efforts

People are asked to meet at the Diamond Banquet Hall in Diamond.

If you’re looking to help out with tornado relief efforts in Coal City and surrounding areas, the Grundy County Community Organizations in Action has set Friday, June 26 as the day to do it.

The group is asking that people meet up at 9 a.m. at the Diamond Banquet Hall in Diamond, located at 113 and Daly St. It’s advised to bring along closed-toe shoes or boots, long pants, gloves, hats or visors, sunglasses and sunscreen. They also request that people carpool if they can.

Volunteers will be given a safety vest and other relevant equipment and then bussed to a neighborhood in need of help.
