Walking Across the Political Divide

Interactive workshop to learn and practice dialogue skills with the "other" side of the political issues. Free. Includes lunch.

  • Are you struggling to talk with someone who differs from you on political issues?
  • Are your relationships sensitive or struggling with people who did not vote the same way you did?
  • Are on-going issues causing a tense environment for you?

Here’s an event to help you with that: Saturday, May 6, 9:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.

  • Interactive workshop where you will learn practical skills for a meaningful conversation with the other person, toward the goal of understanding.
  • We will not be discussing or solving political issues.
  • You will take home helpful dialoging tools to use with friends, family, and colleagues.
  • You are encouraged to bring a friend, neighbor, colleague or family member with differing points of view, so that you will have the opportunity to practice listening and talking techniques.

Workshop details:

  • Location: Yorkville Church, 409 Center Parkway, two blocks northwest of the intersection of Routes 34 and 47.
  • Fee: NONE.
  • Registration: Call Anne at 630-553-5073 or find the event on YCUCC’s Facebook page to RSVP.
  • Light lunch included
  • Facilitators: Rev. Michelle Prentice-Leslie, Rev Mark Gregory, Anne Engelhardt

It would help our planning for materials and lunch to know how many to expect, so please let us know. However, you are welcome to attend even if you cannot commit prior to the event: just come.
