At the 2013 Belvidere Central Invite the Yorkville Middle School cross country team came home with 44 individual awards and some nice team hardware. There was also an incredibly-long list of personal records. You can see the individual results on our Results/Records page and you can also download the team results. Here is a synopsis of how the team performed:
Girls Open Race
Kimberly Batdorf led nearly the entire race, and had the biggest margin-of-victory in any of the 4 races. She won with a 2-mile time of 13:35 and second place was 15 seconds behind her. A lot of girls earned ribbons for top-25 finishes including Ashley Rossolillo (3rd, 13:54), Emily Berge (6th, 14:25), Katy O'Malley (7th, 14:26), Kaylee Deutsch (9th, 14:30), Alyssa Edwards (10th, 14:34), Dani Evans (11th, 14:40), Nicole Rees (13th, 14:56), Emily Schmidt (14th, 14:57), Victoria Crawford (15th, 14:58), Kylie LaSanska (16th, 15:00), Katie Straznickas (17th, 15:01), Savanna Farren (18th, 15:06), Roni Bruck (19th, 15:10), Hanna Zeinstra (20th, 15:28), Kara Aloisio (21st, 15:41), and Catelyn Peterson (24th, 15:45).
Boys Open Race
When the race leader from Stephen Mack turned the wrong way with less than 1/2 mile to go, Cole Johnson was smart enough not to follow him and was rewarded with his first-ever cross country victory in 12:33. Justin Herron (12:54) and Andrew Madej (12:57) weren't far behind in 2nd and 3rd. Other award winners were Cole Bruck (5th, 13:07), Hunter Negron (8th, 13:25), Bryan Corrigan (9th, 13:31), Adam Bello (11th, 13:37), Evan Bender (12th, 13:37), Luke DeVol (13th, 13:38), Jimmy Eberhart (16th, 13:57), Ben Tholen (18th, 14:03), and Eric Naumann (23rd, 14:31).

Girls Varsity Race
Maggie Klemm led the way in the girls varsity race finishing in 3rd place with a time of 12:38. Colleen O'Connor (4th, 12:57), Olivia Borowiak (8th, 13:20), Lindsay Harrison (15th, 13:47), Tayla Van Leeve (25th, 14:13), Nicole Loquercio (26th, 14:15), and Maddy Brusak (29th, 14:20) were the remainder of the top 7 runners who helped lead the Lady Foxes to a tie for first place with Belvidere Central. Belvidere won the tie-breaker, but the girls still came home with a 2nd-place plaque.
Boys Varsity Race
Zack Price and Patrick Black stuck with a tight front pack for the entire race and ended with a sprint to the finish. Zack edged out Patrick for 2nd by finishing in 11:37. Patrick took 3rd in 11:38. Rio Lara (8th, 12:13), Chase Dexter (9th, 12:15), Matt Cox (14th, 12:33), Ben Summers (15th, 12:35), and Zack Nauman (17th, 12:41) led the team to an impressive win with 36 points (15 points is the lowest possible total). Alex Loos (18th, 12:47), Jake Carlson (19th, 12:47), and Hunter Benesh (25th, 12:59) all earned medals, meaning all ten Yorkville runners in the race earned individual awards.
