A student was questioned by police after Yorkville School District 115 administrators were notified by City of Yorkville officials Thursday morning about “suspicious social media activity,” according to an email from the district parents.

The notice did not give details on the alleged social media activity.

In an email sent to parents Wednesday night, Principal Ron Kiesewetter said Yorkville police, Kendall County Sheriff’s police and other Fox Valley-area law enforcement agencies conducted a sweep using K-9 units to search both the main campus and the academy building on Game Farm Road.

“The search was not done in reaction to any specific issues or information, rather it was conducted as a preventative measure to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff,” Kiesewetter said. “Yorkville High School will continue to use measures throughout the year in efforts to maintain a safe environment in which our students can learn and grow.”
