Yorkville Man Brought Heroin to Kendall County Jail: Police

When police saw what he had, he allegedly tried to destroy the evidence by stomping on it.

YORKVILLE, IL — A 26-year-old Yorkville man allegedly brought heroin with him when he turned himself in to the Kendall County Jail for sentencing.

Amos Martinez, of the 0-30 block of Poplar Drive, turned himself in to police Oct. 29 and as he was being transported to a holding cell, corrections deputies noticed him place something in his mouth, according to the Kendall County Sheriff’s Office.

The items were white, rock-like substances and later tested positive for heroin.

Martinez was charged with possession of a controlled substance and bringing contraband into a penal institution. He was also charged with obstructing justice after he allegedly tried to destroy the evidence by stomping on the white heroin rocks, according to the sheriff’s office.
