Yorkville Memorial Day Service Scheduled
The Yorkville American Legion will host a commemoration in Town Square Park.

YORKVILLE, IL — The Yorkville American Legion will host a service in honor of fallen servicemen and women this Memorial Day. The event is set for 11:30 a.m. Monday, May 28, at Town Square Park on Bridge Street off Route 47.
Yorkville American Legion Commander Tim Conrardy said events will begin with the posting of colors at the legion post at 7:40 a.m. From there, legion members will head out with the American Legion Riders on a procession leading to Town Square Park.
The service will begin with a performance of "America the Beautiful" by the Yorkville Middle School band.

From there, the Yorkville Boy Scouts will lead the Pledge of Allegiance before a welcome and introductions by Yorkville Big Band "Mrs. of Ceremony" Carol Falato, according to Kendall County Now. Guest vocalist Aelita Archibald will perform "The Star-Spangled Banner" and "God Bless America."

Conrardy said guest speakers will be Yorkville Mayor Gary Golinski, himself and Retired Army Master Sgt. Bill BiJou. Honored guests will be veterans from Hines veterans hospital.

Falato will read the names of departed soldiers, with Yorkville Eagle Scouts Sean Golinski and Hunter Negron ringing the Memorial Bell after each name is read. In addition to a presentation of a wreath by the Ladies Auxiliary, the Yorkville American Legion Color and Rifle Squad will present a 21-gun salute, followed by a performance of "Taps" and "Echo" by buglers Daniella Tamayo and Zach Belles.
The service will end with another performance by the Yorkville Middle School band.
