Yorkville Middle School has participated in the Tiger Trails Invite at Thompson Junior High in Oswego since the YMS cross country team was founded in 2008 and this was the first year the Yorkville team earned an overall trophy (3rd place) at the invite. It is hard for YMS to earn overall trophies because they only have 7th and 8th grade runners and have to take last place in the 6th grade races. This year the team did so good in the 7th and 8th grade races that they were able to come away with an overall trophy for the first time.
7th Grade Girls
The 7th grade girls started things out right by taking first place with 44 points. Second place went to Oswego Plank with 82 points. Olivia Borowiak set a team record with her time of 9:14 for 1.5 miles to finish in 2nd place behind Cross Lutheran's Nicole Greyer. Colleen O'Connor (3rd, 9:18) and Ashley Rossolillo (8th, 9:39) earned top 10 medals in addition to Olivia. The rest of the top 7 were Dani Evans (13th, 9:51), Roni Bruck (19th, 9:58), Victoria Crawford (20th, 10:00), and Hanna Zeinstra (23rd, 10:15).7th Grade Boys
The 7th grade boys performance was even better than the girls by taking first with 37 points to beat Plainfield Indian Trail's 78 points. Alex Loos fought in the front pack to earn 3rd place with a team record 1.5 mile time of 8:45. Other top 10 medal winners were Jake Carlson (6th, 8:56), Zack Nauman (7th, 8:58), and Hunter Benesh (10th, 9:06). The top 7 was rounded out by Cole Bruck (11th, 9:09), Justin Herron (12th, 9:12), and Bryan Corrigan (13th, 9:15).8th Grade Girls
The 8th grade girls kept the trend going with an even better first place finish with 30 points. Host school Oswego Thompson finished second with 77 points. The team was led by Maggie Klemm's 2nd place finish with a 2 mile time of 12:19. The team also had Kimberly Batdorf (4th, 12:30), Lindsay Harrison (6th, 13:07), and Emily Berge (8th, 13:19) earning medals in the top 10. The rest of the top 7 included Tayla Van Leeve (11th, 13:26), Kaylee Deutsch (12th, 13:27), and Kylie LaSanska (13th, 13:29).8th Grade Boys
In the closest race of the day the 8th grade boys still managed to win with a score of 42 to Kaneland's 52. Patrick Black and Zack Price fought in the lead pack with Kaneland's top runner for the entire race. Patrick made it to the finish line first with a time of 11:00 followed closely by Zack in 11:01. Chase Dexter (8th, 11:49) and Matt Cox (9th, 11:54) also earned top 10 medals. Cole Johnson (22nd, 12:35), Andrew Madej (25th, 12:39), and Ben Summers (31st, 12:49) were the remaining top 7 runners for the team.Tiger Trails P.R. List
