Yorkville Police: 'We Believe In Unity And Equality For All'

About 20 people took to the streets Tuesday to speak out against the death of George Floyd, according to the Yorkville Police Department.

YORKVILLE, IL—Protests held Tuesday in downtown Yorkville were peaceful, according to police.

The Yorkville Police Department said about 20 people took to the streets to speak out against the death of George Floyd. Floyd died at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer on May 25.

His death has sparked protests, many which have turned violent, across the country.

As a safety precaution, extra police were on patrol as Tuesday's protest took place in downtown Yorkville. Fortunately, unlike some scenes that have played out across the country, police said there were no issues at this particular event. Officers described it as "peaceful."

"We take great pride in our community and all of its members," the Yorkville Police Department posted on its official Facebook page. "The photo below was captured at the protest. The YPD believes in unity and equality for all."
