• Reports show Hazel Dell bridge was in 'very good condition' before partial collapse (wishtv.com) — Inspection records show Carmel's Hazel Dell Parkway bridge was rated in good to very good condition before record rainfall and surging water caused a partial collapse on August 15. The bridge south of 106th Street now needs full replacement, and the area remains closed while city crews, engineers, and the Indiana National Guard stabilize the site with dams and massive sandbags.
• Gov. Braun assesses flood damage in Carmel and Noblesville, takes additional action to help Hoosiers recover (wbiw.com) — Severe flooding along the White River has forced Carmel families from their homes and damaged local infrastructure, prompting a visit from Governor Mike Braun and Mayor Sue Finkam to coordinate state recovery help. While power-outage relief is focused on northwest Indiana, state agencies remain active statewide, and Carmel residents are urged to track assistance options for housing, food benefits, and longer-term rebuilding support.
• Mother-son bring new vision to Brownsburg's Spice Club (youarecurrent.com) — A Brownsburg Indian-fusion restaurant now has a strong Carmel connection: co-owner Rey Chaudhary grew up locally after he and his mother, Monica Emani, resettled in the Carmel area and he attended Carmel High School. Their journey from starting over with almost nothing to owning Spice Club highlights the support they found in central Indiana and their hopes to grow the restaurant into something bigger.
