1. Carmel bridge destroyed by flooding could be replaced by end of 2027 (wishtv.com) — A key Hazel Dell Parkway bridge in Carmel was destroyed by recent White River flooding and could be fully rebuilt by the end of 2027, leaving the area closed for now. Hamilton County is coordinating large-scale cleanup, housing help, and debris pickup, and residents are urged to document damage, sort debris into specific piles, and call county hotlines if they need food, shelter, or cleanup supplies.
   

2. Shelbyville-based Guard unit assists with state disaster response (1010wcsi.com) — Indiana National Guard helicopters helped prevent a major sewage-line rupture in Carmel during the recent flooding by airlifting massive sandbags to protect the line along Blue Woods Creek. The same Shelbyville-based aviation brigade and other Guard units also cleared roads and assisted with water rescues across the state, including in Indianapolis and Anderson.
   

3. Author to discuss 'Time of Witches' at Carmel Clay Public Library (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel readers can meet historical fiction author Madeline Martin at a free Sept. 9 talk at Carmel Clay Public Library, where she'll discuss her new novel "A Time of Witches" and her research process. Registration is required, and the visit is part of her national tour, building on previous popular appearances at the library.
   

4. 2 men going to Indiana prison for Carmel pharmacy heist in 2023 (wishtv.com) — Two men have been sentenced to a combined 22 years in federal prison for robbing the CVS pharmacy at 116th Street and Rangeline Road in Carmel in June 2023. Court records say one man pointed a gun at a pharmacy employee while the other grabbed bottles of prescription pills before fleeing, with Carmel police quickly pursuing and arresting them.
   

5. Indy to determine if flood damage will impact future road spending priorities (fox59.com) — Indianapolis officials are reassessing future road and bridge spending after August's record flooding, which hit Noblesville and Carmel especially hard. While Indy expects millions in new state and local funds, inspectors are now checking White River–adjacent neighborhoods to see if flood damage should push some infrastructure projects higher on the priority list.
