1. Roundabout plan at 146th Street, Hazel Dell Parkway gets mixed reviews (wishtv.com) — Drivers in Carmel should prepare for major changes at 146th Street and Hazel Dell Parkway, where Hamilton County has approved a nearly $40 million grade-separated interchange and roundabout project. Construction, expected to begin this fall and last through 2029, aims to improve safety and traffic flow but will bring detours and longer commutes for many Carmel, Noblesville and nearby residents.
2. UIndy ready for Archaeology Day (wishtv.com) — An Archaeology Day celebration is coming to Carmel's Williams Homestead at Coxhall Gardens this Saturday, giving residents a hands-on way to explore Indiana's past. Led by University of Indianapolis professor Christopher Moore and his students, the free event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and highlights how even tiny artifacts can reveal big stories about state history.
3. Carmel entrepreneur makes Orr Fellowship history while building her own company (readthereporter.com) — A 22-year-old Carmel entrepreneur, Jenna Burd, is breaking new ground by joining the Orr Fellowship while running her own Carmel-based marketing agency, Yalla Solutions. Her path opens doors for future fellows who want to build startups locally, and she's also launched a growing Orr Fellowship Foundry community to connect Indiana founders, alumni and current fellows pursuing their own ventures.
4. Stars align at Heartland Film Festival premieres (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel residents can look ahead to a March 18 visit from John Malkovich, who will appear with the Vienna Academy Orchestra at the Allied Solutions Center for the Performing Arts. His stop is highlighted amid a star-packed Heartland International Film Festival lineup in Indianapolis this October, featuring premieres, celebrity guests, and substantial cash awards for filmmakers.
