Ascension St. Vincent Sports Performance office at Clay Terrace to close (youarecurrent.com) — Ascension St. Vincent's Sports Performance office at Clay Terrace in Carmel will close Oct. 30 as the health system shifts to a new partnership with OrthoIndy. Patients and staff are being promised support through the transition, but details on job impacts and where services will move have not yet been disclosed.
2. Carmel couple pleads guilty to insider trading charges (youarecurrent.com) — Two Carmel residents have pleaded guilty in federal court to insider trading tied to confidential information from engine maker Cummins about its acquisition of Meritor. Prosecutors say the couple made hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal profits and now face potential prison time and forfeiture of their gains, with sentencing set for January 2027.
3. No. 5 Lawrence North survives late rally from No. 8 Carmel to earn 28-21 win (wthr.com) — Carmel High School's football team nearly erased a 21-point deficit before falling 28-21 to Lawrence North in a tense conference matchup. The Greyhounds now sit at 2-3 overall and 1-2 in conference play, and will try to rebound on the road at North Central next Friday night.
4. Young, Peters Introduce Bill to Improve Traffic Safety, Expand Eligibility in Infrastructure Projects (senate.gov) — Carmel's extensive roundabout network is being held up in Congress as a national model in a new bipartisan bill that could expand federal funding for similar projects. Senators Todd Young and Gary Peters say Carmel's safety gains show how roundabouts can reduce crashes, potentially steering more infrastructure dollars toward designs already familiar to local drivers and pedestrians.
