Today's riddle: Is there anybody completely useless? 🤔 (Answer below!)
1. 2026 Voter Guide: Indiana Senate District 29 (wfyi.org) — If you live in the Carmel portion of Indiana Senate District 29, you'll choose between Democrat Kristina Moorhead and Republican John Ruckelshaus this November. This voter guide explains what the office does, outlines Moorhead's detailed positions on data centers, affordability, and public schools, and summarizes Ruckelshaus' stated priorities on jobs, housing, healthcare, and education.
2. Carmel Christkindlmarkt investigation report released (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel's City Council has released an investigation report finding Mayor Sue Finkam acted within her authority when she replaced most of the Carmel Christkindlmarkt board, though some of her public explanations were deemed inaccurate or one-sided. The $125,000 review generally clears city officials of wrongdoing but highlights disputed accounts of financial information requests and how the shakeup was communicated.
3. 'Hoosiers' 40th anniversary screening to feature film cast, iconic bus (wrtv.com) — Carmel residents can catch a special 40th anniversary screening of the basketball classic "Hoosiers" at the Payne & Mencias Palladium on Nov. 15, complete with cast Q&A and the film's iconic team bus on display. Tickets start at $25, with student and service discounts available at the Carter Green box office and online.
4. The finish line: Despite health setbacks, Carmel runner completes marathons in 50 states (youarecurrent.com) — Carmel runner Emma Tillman has completed marathons in all 50 states, a goal she reached after health scares that once left her unsure she'd race again. Her story highlights training on local trails, the Carmel Marathon, and friendships built through Carmel running clubs that helped her reclaim joy in distance running.
5. Dr. Kwasniewski's Lectures in Chicagoland (Sep. 30), Pittsburgh (Oct. 1-2), and Indianapolis (Oct. 4) (blogspot.com) — A Catholic lecture tour is making a stop in Carmel, offering a talk on the "true" St. Francis of Assisi on the 800th anniversary of his death. The evening includes a lecture, Q&A, book signing, and dinner, but requires advance registration, unlike some of the tour's other free events in Illinois and Pennsylvania.
