Carmel, Fishers, Zionsville Ranked Among State's Safest Cities

PLUS: The number one safest city in Indiana, and where Indianapolis ranks, according to security company SafeWise.

CARMEL, IN - If you live in Carmel, Fishers or Zionsville, your city just received a recognizable ranking, as these three cities are among the safest cities in the Hoosier state, ranked by a home security company SafeWise. How was this decided? The company ranked cities with more than 4,000 people and based this on the number of crimes (violent and property) per 1,000 people.

The safest Indiana city of all? Ligonier, in northern Indiana, followed by Zionsville in second place, Carmel at six, and Fishers at number nine.

The report also shows several cities, including Carmel, credit the partnerships between community members and their police departments for their safety.

Carmel reported 13 crimes in 2015, Fishers with 21, Ligonier with one, and Indianapolis hitting the bottom of the list coming in at number 95.
