Family Says Child Was Sexually Abused At Carmel Summer Camp
DETAILS: The sexual abuse allegations reported by the family of a local 8-year-old, including details of who they claim abused their child.

CARMEL, IN – A family plans to file a lawsuit against the City of Carmel, which will accuse workers at a local summer camp of failing to protect the family's eight-year-old girl from sexual abuse from another child at the camp, Fox59 reports. The news outlet said a tort claim was filed by Attorney Tim Stoesz Aug. 8 on behalf of the child's mother, informing Carmel officials of plans to file the lawsuit, and reportedly says “over a period of several weeks, the minor child was subjected to physical, mental and sexual assaults by another child while both children were under the care and supervision of the City of Carmel, Carmel Parks and Recreation Department.” Fox59 said the alleged abuse took place during a summer camp at Creekside Middle School which began May 30, adding the 8-year-old girl told her mother a 7-year-old girl followed her into a bathroom, locked and barricaded the door with her body, and allegedly touched the 8-year-old in addition to other forced behavior.
Stoesz says the child's mother contacted camp workers several times about what her child was describing, but he reportedly said camp staff didn't follow protocols to prevent these actions from happening again.
