Indy Fuel National Anthem Singer Dies From Apparent Heart Attack
Eric Wickens reportedly collapsed and died from a heart attack Saturday after singing the anthem at a Westfield sporting event.

WESTFIELD, IN — The Indy Fuel is mourning the death of the team's national anthem singer, Eric Wickens, who has passed away, according to Indy Fuel. The team tweeted a message Monday from the Twitter account @IndyFuel, "Our hearts are heavy with the passing of our dear friend Eric Wickens. We send our thoughts and condolences to his family and loved ones," and posted a similar message on the Indy Fuel Facebook page.
IndyStar reports 48-year-old Wickens, Fishers, died Saturday of an apparent heart attack after singing the national anthem at a sporting event at Grand Park in Westfield. The news source also reports Wickens collapsed around 5 p.m., but despite the efforts of an off-duty firefighter, he was pronounced dead less than an hour later.
