IN Mom Arrested For Feeding Autistic Daughter Bleach
Police arrest Indiana mom as husband accuses her of feeding their autistic daughter bleach after Facebook group called it a cure: Report

An Indianapolis woman was arrested Saturday after her husband accused her of feeding their child bleach to help cure her autism, Chicago Tribune reports. Police arrested the 28-year-old woman after claims that she put hydrolic acid drops and water-purifying solution in her young daughter's drinks, which is something the husband says his wife read about in a Facebook group, the news outlet reports. The child has since been removed from the home by Child Protective Services, Chicago Tribune reports.
This potentially dangerous chemical combination is marketed as Miracle Mineral Solution or Master Mineral Solution that's claimed by advocates as an industrial bleach that will cure several diseases, including autism, AIDS, hepatitis and cancer.
According to Chicago Tribune, the Food and Drug Administration issued a warning in 2010 advising people using MMS to stop and throw the chemical combination away, citing several uncomfortable to life-threatening side effects. However, the MMS website begs to differ, calling it an "amazingly powerful compound" that has "stood the test of time because it works - & works well!"

Chicago Tribune says that while the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention report there is no medication that cures autism, "a developmental disability that can cause noticeable social and behavioral challenges," there are medications, however, that can help manage the behaviors connected to autism, such as high energy levels, depression and seizures.
Side effects of MMS, according to the FDA, include kidney failure, dehydration and death.
