1. Evansville invests $1.075 million in Grandview Tower rehabilitation (14news.com) — Evansville is putting $1.075 million into rehabilitating Grandview Tower, a 170-unit senior community, to keep it affordable and improve living conditions. Expect upgraded apartments, better accessibility, new community amenities, and major building improvements, all backed by a long-term PILOT tax agreement with the new owners.
2. EPO to Premiere Austin Ali Composition in Evansville (my1053wjlt.com) — Evansville music lovers can hear the Indiana debut of composer Austin Ali's award-winning piece when the Evansville Philharmonic Orchestra performs it free on Thursday, October 1, 2026, at 6 p.m. at The Commons on North Main. The concert caps the EPO's first Young Composers Competition and invites the whole community to experience a new work live.
3. University of Evansville adds nine dual credit schools (courierpress.com) — Students at several area high schools, including Evansville Christian and Central, can now earn University of Evansville credit through new dual-credit agreements. Depending on the school, teens may take UE-taught classes or get UE credit for qualifying high school courses, giving local families more flexible and affordable pathways into college.

Ascension St. Vincent Evansville names Dr. Mureena Turnquest Wells as the 2026 Physician of the Year (wsonradio.com) — Ascension St. Vincent Evansville has named maternal-fetal medicine specialist Dr. Mureena Turnquest Wells its 2026 Physician of the Year. Colleagues praise her compassionate care and calm leadership, highlighting how she supports high-risk patients and medical teams while serving families across the Evansville community.
5. 'Giving back to the community': Young & Established celebrates 6-year milestone (tristatehomepage.com) — A beloved Evansville nonprofit, Young & Established, is celebrating six years of serving families from its Vann Avenue center with leadership programs, backpack and coat giveaways, and weekly food distributions. Founder Courtney Johnson and a growing team of volunteers say they're just getting started in expanding support for kids and neighbors across the Evansville community.
