1. 2nd Annual Indiana Hunger Summit to be Held September 2, Expanding Statewide and Offering an Evansville Location (wsonradio.com) — Evansville residents can join the 2026 Indiana Hunger Summit at the University of Southern Indiana's Carter Hall on Wednesday, Sept. 2, from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. The Evansville hub will connect local leaders with counterparts in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne to tackle food insecurity, featuring discussions, a showcase fair, regional groups, and a statewide pitch competition for $25 registration including lunch.
2. Here are this week's Evansville food and restaurant inspection reports (courierpress.com) — Vanderburgh County Health Department inspectors recently checked a long list of Evansville-area restaurants, convenience stores, and bakeries, with most earning no violations. A few spots, including a Broadway Foodmart, KFC on Green River Road, and Lyle's Sportszone, were cited for issues like missing certified food handlers, cleaning needs, and pest activity, which must be corrected.
3. Ivy Tech invites women to try tech skills for free (courierpress.com) — Women and girls in Evansville curious about tech careers can sign up for a free, hands-on "Capture the Flag" competition at Ivy Tech Community College's First Avenue campus on September 18. Participants will team up to tackle beginner-friendly challenges in cybersecurity, coding, data science, and AI, with lunch included and no prior experience required.
4. Private Plane Makes Emergency Landing at EVV (wnin.org) — A small private plane made a belly landing at Evansville Regional Airport after reporting landing gear trouble, prompting airport and Evansville fire crews to stage on the airfield. Officials report no fire or injuries, and EVV says operations continued normally while the aircraft was removed.
