Evansville woman celebrates 107th birthday with special proclamation (14news.com) — Evansville honored longtime resident Geraldine "Gerry" Oets by proclaiming Wednesday "Geraldine Oets Day" as she celebrated her 107th birthday at the Evansville Protestant Home. Oets, a trailblazing former Deputy Clerk of the U.S. District Court and James Bethel Gresham Freedom Award recipient, was joined by many well‑wishers as Mayor Terry signed a special proclamation in her name.

EFD says carbon monoxide detector saved lives during Monday night call (14news.com) — After an emergency call on Norman Avenue in Evansville, firefighters say a small carbon monoxide detector on their heart monitor likely saved five lives by quickly revealing dangerous gas levels. 3. Vanderburgh Co.
