Evansville woman celebrates 107th birthday with special proclamation (14news.com) — Evansville honored longtime resident Geraldine "Gerry" Oets by proclaiming Wednesday "Geraldine Oets Day" as she celebrated her 107th birthday at the Evansville Protestant Home. Oets, a trailblazing former Deputy Clerk of the U.S. District Court and James Bethel Gresham Freedom Award recipient, was joined by many well‑wishers as Mayor Terry signed a special proclamation in her name.
   

2. EFD says carbon monoxide detector saved lives during Monday night call (14news.com) — After an emergency call on Norman Avenue in Evansville, firefighters say a small carbon monoxide detector on their heart monitor likely saved five lives by quickly revealing dangerous gas levels. Evansville fire and EMS officials now urge every household to install detectors and are working to expand their use of these devices on engines and ambulances to better protect residents.
   

3. Vanderburgh Co. Data Center Research Committee holds first meeting (14news.com) — Vanderburgh County's new Data Center Research Committee has begun work on recommendations that could shape how future data centers operate near Evansville, focusing on public protections, noise, energy use, and growth impacts. Members, including local environmental and farming voices, plan to study other communities' experiences and aim to deliver proposed guidelines to county commissioners by December 31.
